My Italglish version follows under this illogically spelt version
I’ve just joined Saundspel which is a group of linguists discussing ways to bring English into the 21st Century as regards reading and writing and there is one system on there, altho frightening to begin with, that is amazingly easy to read once you get going. I’m not sure how easy it would be for me to learn to do as it has some complicated consonant structures, but its rendition of our “degrees of dipthongs” is truly a marvel.
The phonetic system is called DanSpel, named after its creator Daniel Pohaska. Here’s a sample that is not half as difficult as it looks:
Aj dzjüst tuk y luk at joor blog, dhy link tu whitsj ju geiv bilow, and aj müst sej ju’r veri mütsj in gud kympyni heer. Joor prypouzl iz in dhy spirit ov meni riformyrz hiir and theer ar veri meni similyr yproutsjis juuzd hiir az wel.
Isn’t that how English should really be written? DanSpel captures the “ah” from the “aa” from the ordinary “a”. What’s so interesting about it is that Daniel has based DanSpel on Frisian, the language most closely related and the predocessor to English. Now there’s history for you (for those who whine on about our so-called “spelling evolution” - well if our current spelling is an evolution then the dinosaurs could have done a better job with their giant sized feet!)
Italglish versjon :
Ai’v just joind Saundspel wich iz a groop ov lingwists discusing weiz too bring Eenglish intoo th 21st Senturi az regards reeding and raiting and ther iz wun sistem on ther (olthou fraitening too begin with) that iz ameizingly eezy too reed wuns yoo get going. Ai’m not shoor hau eezy it wood b for mee too lurn too doo az it haz sum compliceited consonant strukchurz, but its rendishun ov awur “degreez ov dipthongz” iz truly a marvel.
Th fonetic sistem iz cawld DanSpel, neimd aftur its crieitur Danyol Pohaska. Heer’s a sampol that iz not hahf as dificult az it looks:
Aj dzjüst tuk y luk at joor blog, dhy link tu whitsj ju geiv bilow, and aj müst sej ju’r veri mütsj in gud kympyni heer. Joor prypouzl iz in dhy spirit ov meni riformyrz hiir and theer ar veri meni similyr yproutsjis juuzd hiir az wel.
Izn’t that hau Eenglish shood reerli b riten? DanSpel capchurz thi “ah” from thi “aa” from thi ordinary “a”. Wot’s sou interesting abaut it iz that Danyol haz beist DanSpel on Frizian, th leingwij moust clously rileitid and th pridosesor too Eenglish. Nau there’z history for yoo (for thouz hoo wain on abaut destroiying awur sou-cawld “speling eevolooshun” - well, if awur curent speling iz an eevolooshun then the dainasohz cood hav dun a betur job with ther jaiyant saizd feet!)
